Do NOT sign a loan from Institutional Student Finance Corp
My son signed loan papers from Institutional Student Finance Corp. when PORTER AND CHESTER INSTITUTE advisors put them in front of him to get a loan for the school.
The page with the finance info "got lost" and years later has never been found. It took me two years to find out the interest rate was 13.99%. Even though their name is Institutional Student Finance Corp they do not write student loans, so they can charge whatever interest rates they want. (Loan Sharking?) We paid extra to get rid of the loan ...
and they stopped sending bills!!!
Because we were paying online, without seeing a bill, we did not realize we were being charged $200 a month for interest on a $332.88 bill. When I finally found a number to call and question the charge I got "oops, must be a hiccup in the system" Any school that would place students with this company is not a school anyone should be in.

Attendance policy
The attendance policy there is absolutely ridiculous. If you are even one minute late they deduct the first half hour.
They take a half hour away from you for being 1 minute late. If you miss 2 days, let's say for being sick and you can not prove you were sick than you get a letter stating that you could be kicked out of school. A majority of the time when you reappeal it is denied and they kick you out anyways, this school is over priced, they give you *** equipment that breaks and you can not even hear out of, for 21,000 I'd say the students deserve a little break , especially ones with kids.
I can not wait to graduate so that I can tell everyone I know not to go to Porter and Chester, the only good experience I had here was meeting incredible people and my instructor. That's the only thing that made it worth it.

Anyone home?
They don't return phone calls or offer and support to customers. We have called over 10X over a 5 day period and no return call. Is there anyone there?
This information needed is time sensitive and involves a significant amount of money. The message have been detailed specific and some response is needed. They are solely focused on new potential students and don't seem to offer any support to former students.
There is no directory of services on line. Appear many dissatisfied employees and students.
This is a very important matter and short of showing up there in person I am at a loss to resolve my issue.
I assume they are simply not competent.

Horrible Experience Discouraging
I was trying to get an education to be able to better provide for my family. The teachers were very judgemental and not encouraging at all.
I am an overweight women, learning disabled, and not very confident. On my second day of class the teacher (Linda Coral, Cathleen Aneno) accused be of being drunk. I told them that I do not drink or do drugs and if they wanted to call the police I would take a breathalyzer. I was so shocked and upset by their accusations that I left and never went back.
They should be ashamed for judging me. This has been a horrible experience but I will not give up on myself. My husband is dying and I need to have the skills to be able to take care of my daughter and father whom I support. It is sad to think that there are teachers like this out there.
They should be encouraging people that want to improve their lives not insulting and discouraging them.
Thank God for Karma.
Screwed me big time

School sucks
when you first go check it out they greet you nicely. they promise to give you all the help what a lie.
they don't help you find your resume find a job anything like that. the instructor focuses more on the customers bringing in their cars and money. all ready complained and they got rid of one of the instructor because they said their budget is low at the moment. so we have one teacher who rushes through the power points and only helps out students he likes which is only like 2.
when your in the shop you have to wait too long in between to borrow a tool because its locked. he also takes his time and doesnt put in enthusiasm if your not his favorite ***.
all he says go check all that i didnt pay for this so i can sit on computer looking up stuff all day. worst school ever dont sign your life away lol..im serious

I need that number I went to porter and cheater and they stuck me with this same issue. I also had more baggage on top like them losing there accreditation in mass and I am unable to get my nursing license in the state I live (MA)
What is the phone number?
Sadly, the school is ran by Institutional Student Finance Corps. I went to the Rocky Hill campus and the ISFC offices were right above the school.
I cannot believe the scruples of these ISFC people! How many more are they going to hurt?!
File a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, regarding yourmonetary losses and their deceptive practices. Reference Thoma Bravo and ISFC and Porter and Chester. They make it all confusing so that consumers cannot properly identify the business name, personnel, or address. In other words, they try to make you feel *** for not knowing, when, in fact you are doing YOUR due diligence!
I swear these sharks have some role in the retail industry. Write to one or both of the U.S.
Senators for CT. They are looking for feedback regarding manufacturing and other employment issues in our State.
I have the same problem with Institutional Student Finance Corp. However I think that ISFC is actually run by Porter & Chester.
The Institutional Student Finance Corp. and Porter & Chester Rocky Hill, CT have the same address of 30 Waterchase Drive.
how did u resolve this issue. ive been paying my isfc for over a year and a half.
ive never been sent anything, theres no website, and its not listed with the bbb. i left messages and am still waiting to hear back.
ive never received a statement or bill bcuz they take it from my acct. automatically.
Start with 855-219-****. Ask for the # for ISFC.
Ask them for a student financial summary. Look it over carefully. I am sure you will find errors in the interest charged to you. Do this EVERY month.
We finally took out a different loan thru a bank and paid off ISFC. I did talk to the Atty General's office in CT.
They are reviewing ISFC as we speak. Seems that ISFC has some shady business people/practices going on.
As of October 2015, all proprietary schools will be required to report executive salaries and student success rates. These are two concepts that this writer consistently asked the porter and chester admissions, supervisory, and director personnel.
For some reason they thought I wanted "personal information about other students". In the long run, I found out that the default rate on student loans was close to 90%! Why? For several reasons.
First, employers require two to five years of consecutive, paid employment in the field of practice, and the "externship" is regarded as part of the "education". I pressed the placement people to "explain the database of employers". It doesn't exist. Most positions are per diem and pay about ten to twelve per hour, no paid benefits (i.e.
no stipends for uniforms, no sick or vacation time, you pay full premium for health, vision, dental). They also have been using people as decoys by placing their "best students" in the "most challenging positions". Okay? No.
According to their placement "specialist" these "businesses" have "a way of finding problems with students". And the conditions are consistently unreasonable for the students (very low pay, terrible management of the premises, unsanitary conditions, unsafe environment, equipment that doesnt ?function properly, bias and criticism). Management targets the new employee within a few days, and expects the new hiree to "hit the ground running" and run the place. Deplorable!
Unfair! So this new reporting requires proprietary "schools" to compile proof that student groups (again, NOT targeting students) in their training programs are achieving consistent "gainful employment." Part of being gainfully employed means the students are earning twenty percent above the cost of the total amount borrowed (that would be us dept of edu loans plus any/all "other" loans, including interest. This is written in hope that the cunning lies and coercive tactics by porter and chester will stop. To all potential students, stand your ground.
Demand these answers from the sales people. If they try the whine tactic ("oh, no, wwwhhhyyyyy?") or try to get chummy, walk out.
No means no. Don't fall for it.
Inst. Student Finance Corporation double billed me several times, and almost got away with it.
I may have a disability, but I am sharp. My conscience and morals are intact. I took a risk. They took advantage.
ISFC "had to be paid" by automatic debit. They simultaneously mailed collection letters demanding payment and threatening collection activities. They called every day, every hour, all day. I got a few hundred back because I caught them within 90 days.
Wait til you hear what they did next. First they changed the phone number, then they changed their "business name". They buried my money in some investment scheme, and told me to call yet another entity. Another "online medical college" in the mid-west USA that wanted to enroll me in "a program"!
So my first instinct, where I doubted the validity of porter and chester's tactics, was correct! They misrepresented just about everything. All those seemingly cheerful friendly people in the front offices who say they want to "help" you? They dont care.
It's false advertising. Unfair trade practices. Coersion.
Intentional infliction of emotional distress. Rack--------!
