Wow! This is bad.

And they continue to aggressively advertise that same fraud. As if they're this exclusive, "special" place. They are not! So sad.

They must have some awful trick up their sleeves with promissory notes and other loan documents. Scary! Several (decades) years ago they were turning out fabulous electricians and automotive people. I feel sorry for those guys because their school is getting a bad rep.

I think their new management may be the problem. And I also think the recession created "opportunities" to promote aggressive "all you need is skills and a career shift" advertising. There is no "substance" to the classes anymore. And all they do is rant at people about attendance, uniforms and attitudes.

Life is more than "skills" and a "strict attendance policy." Don't quit your day jobs! Stay away from trade schools. Apply for part time study at a college to get started. Also -- I am not sure about Massachusetts -- I think CT has a very good Technical High School system, too.

As for college, advisors and PhD or MA/MS Professors will help you build incredible character by helping guide you in your course selections and campus activities (clubs, performing arts, sports, etc.). All those theories and lab practicals are interesting. They make you really think about important concepts, and that builds insight to help you make good choices in the future -- near and far. And the best thing is, when you accumulate enough credits to qualify, your "practical experience" can be an "internship" or two that are creditable education.

Most internships have a weekly seminar to discuss related topics. You have to be in class on time and do all the homework. But they don't nag or rant at you in college. Because it's your choice to be there and your effort that keeps you there.

So sink or swim, Life goes on. You don't do your work on time? Your loss. They don't let you "make up" hours or work.

And if you "mouth off" or disturb the class or mishandle equipment, you're done. You're out. No excuses. It's well worth it.

And for those good, decent, hard- working men and women who really put an effort -- including good attendance and attitude -- at Porter and Chester that got so hurt in all of this? God Bless you.
